GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Spots, impurities and inflammatory nodules and cysts are more than just irritating and unpleasant skin changes. They also represent a medical condition requiring treatment. And contrary to popular belief, acne is not a condition that affects only young people. Hormonal changes, stress and environmental influences make acne a frequent problem for adults too.
Careful treatment of acne requires an individual therapy concept adapted specifically to the skin. There are many options for treatment, based on scientifically-established acne guidelines. Possible therapeutic approaches are medical deep skin cleansing, medical peelings, prescription of dermatological treatments prepared individually for the patients affected according to the doctor’s instructions.
Acne management is one of Dr. Zenker’s particular treatment specialisms, as she worked for many years with one of the leading dermatologists in this field at the University of Munich.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Allergies are becoming more and more common these days, whether it be hay fever, watering eyes, respiratory problems or skin allergies in the form of itchy rashes or eczema. The body tries with a kind of immune system defence reaction, to defend itself against certain, normally harmless, environmental substances (allergens). The consequences range from a feeling of slight debilitation all the way to health-damaging restrictions for the affected persons.
The first step here, in addition to adequate symptomatic treatment, is individual diagnostics according to international standards. Investigations to identify the substances causing the allergy include allergy tests and blood analyses. Sometimes it is also necessary to involve other experts, such as an internist or ENT specialist. Once the triggers are known, in many cases it is possible to initiate curative therapy against the root cause. Hyposensitisation, for instance, can be an option. Additionally, or independently of this, the patient can also be provided with all prescription medicines or allergy suppressants.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Spider veins are small blood vessels visible through the skin in the form of a net or fan. They occur mainly on the legs.
The cause is often diseased veins, therefore this has to be excluded or investigated in advance by means of doppler sonography.
Then therapy can be initiated, for instance using classic sclerotherapy which involves injection of a special solution to provoke inflammation and consequent closure of the troublesome veins. Treatment with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) – in our practice we use Harmony XL™ Harmony XL™ also yields good results.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Eczema is the result of dry, scaly and sometimes also itchy skin changes. These can be caused by various allergies and environmental influences, as well as other dermatological conditions.
Therefore extensive diagnostics are required, using swabs, perhaps allergy tests and, if necessary, histological examinations. This is the only way to ensure preparation of a therapy concept adapted to the specific condition. This concept may include dermatological pharmaceutical compounding, individually prescribed medications and tips for specific skin care, and above all holistic allergy management.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Broken veins on the face and bust area are not only a cosmetic flaw, they should also be treated. We use only the most advanced therapy methods with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). IPL is a very effective treatment method which we use in our practice to remove blemishes and to treat veins, redness and enlarged pores.
This safe technique tackles the red pigment in the veins by direct application of bundled laser beams of various wavelengths. The red pigment in the veins absorbs this energy and is thus gradually metabolised and broken down. Sometimes little crusts form along the course of the vessels as a result of therapy, but these fall off over time. The surrounding skin remains unaffected. Normally, 2 to 3 treatment sessions will be needed at intervals of 2 to 3 weeks, although in some cases one session may be sufficient.
We treat with Harmony XL™.
If this method is not suitable for treatment of your broken veins, we offer several other therapy options, for instance electrocauterisation. Sometimes, broken veins can be a symptom of an underlying skin condition, for instance rosacea. Then of course we also offer the necessary specialist dermatological treatment.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Hair loss is a very common illness which can occur even in early adulthood. Hair loss must be taken very seriously from a dermatological point of view since it is often not only a cosmetic problem for the patient, but also a major psychological burden. We are very committed to taking all aspects of this illness seriously.
Besides hereditary components, abnormally extreme hair loss can also be due to hormonal causes, metabolic disease and stress, for instance vitamin and mineral deficiencies. There are also specific forms of hair loss, such has alopecia areata.
Treatment of hair loss too must always begin with thorough diagnostics. Computer-assisted digital hair root analysis (Trichoscan) can help establish your current hair status. Hormonal and metabolic causes, as well as vitamin and mineral deficiencies can be excluded by an additional blood test. Depending on the results, joint therapy by another physician (an internist or gynaecologist) and/or prescription of dietary supplements may be necessary.
In addition to prescription of specific hair tinctures, Dr. Zenker also offers highly successful individual mesotherapy. This involves injecting a special mixture of substances to promote hair growth directly into the scalp using an ultrafine needle.
Today even special forms of hair loss can be treated successfully with a wide variety of methods.
Dr. Zenker has long been a respected expert for hair loss management, in particular because she worked on this specific field for many years at university.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Skin cancer is a collective term for all malign skin changes. The basic distinction to be made is between basal cell carcinoma and melanoma.
Basal cell carcinoma develops in response to years of exposure to more ultraviolet light than the particular skin type can bear. This means too much exposure to sunlight over the years can lead to development of basal cell carcinoma or its preliminary stages. The most common typical clinical symptoms are scaly, rough, crusty patches, mainly on the face, bust area and hands, which do not heal.
Depending on the type and extent of the condition, treatment can be either dermabrasion, chemical peelings or surgical intervention. Local therapies can also be considered. And even then it’s not too late for strict UV protection……...
Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer. Unlike basal cell carcinoma, its development is normally highly visible. Again, too much exposure to sunlight, sunburn and lots of moles are risk factors. However, pigmentation can also change spontaneously without external influences.
Depending on disease progression, surgical removal of the primary focus and sometimes also further or parallel treatment by an internist is necessary. We carry out all outpatient skin surgery procedures and overall patient care according to the guidelines of the German Association of Dermatological Oncology (ADO).
Annual preventative skin cancer check ups can considerably reduce the risk of developing this type of skin cancer. In order to recognise both skin conditions early on, or at a preliminary stage, Dr. Zenker recommends preventative examination by a qualified dermatologist once a year. In order to enable optimum comparison of moles, we have for many years been working with computer-assisted digital reflected light video microscopy (photofinder). This offers not only the opportunity to store data on the moles but also to analyse them directly after the examination using a special database to decide whether or not treatment is necessary.
Further to these annual check-ups, you should make an appointment if:
- you have a lot of (new and old) moles
- you detect a change in one of your moles (in form, colour or size)
- one of your moles starts bleeding (due to injury or spontaneously).
Skin cancer prevention is one of Dr. Zenker’s main specialisms and also one of the most commonly-performed diagnostics and therapies. Dr. Zenker is highly committed to preventing skin cancer and keeping skin healthy.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Herpes is one of the most common and also most unpleasant viral infections, which manifests itself mainly in the skin. This infection often appears around the lips or in the genital region. However the condition is not limited to these areas and can affect any area of the body.
Diagnosis of this condition can be confirmed by diligent diagnostic methodology, such as swabs and blood tests.
Since this infection is highly contagious, education and precautionary measures are very important.
Treatment is generally pharmaceutical , locally and where required also systemically. In order prevent prolonged disease processes, it is often necessary to follow a complex therapy regimen.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Infectious skin diseases can have a wide variety of causes. The first step is to make a detailed examination of the skin. Swabs can show whether the infection is bacterial, viral, fungal or some other kind of infection. Sometimes cross-disciplinary diagnostics are necessary.
Treatment options are extremely varied and Dr. Zenker tailors therapy specifically to each patient after analysis of the findings. From local medication and special wound treatments to administration of tablets, a very wide variety of therapies can be used according to dermatology treatment guidelines.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Varicose veins are also not just a cosmetic problem, but a widespread illness which, due to the swollen legs and pain, considerably impairs sufferers’ quality of life. In our practice we perform initial diagnostics and therapy, and we collaborate across the disciplines with the relevant specialists.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Melanoma, also known as black mole cancer, is the most dangerous type of skin cancer.
Depending on progression, surgical removal of the primary focus is necessary in any case, and in some cases it may also be necessary to involve an internist for additional or parallel treatment.
Annual precautionary skin cancer checks using computer-supported digital reflected light video microscopy (photofinder) can considerably reduce the risk of developing this type of skin cancer.
In addition to the annual check-ups, you should make an appointment if:
- you have a lot of new or even old moles
- you notice a change in the form, colour or size of one of your moles
- one of your moles starts to bleed or itch spontaneously or following an injury.
If removal of a suspicious pigment mole is medically necessary, we perform all outpatient dermatology surgical procedures and full patient care according to the guidelines of the German Association of Dermatological Oncology (ADO).
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Melasma is one of the most difficult pigment disorders to treat. There is virtually no method that guarantees sustained treatment success.
There is virtually no method that guarantees sustained treatment success. Since Dr. Zenker herself suffered from this pigment disorder for many years, she has long been involved in academic research and treatment of the condition. Based on her many years of therapeutic experience, she has developed the Depi-Fast-Peel™, a medical peeling method which has now established itself as an ideal management tool in the treatment of melasma.
Depi-Fast-Peel™ is what is known as a mask peel in which de-pigmenting and peeling substances remain on the skin for a certain period of time. Afterwards, a typical peeling process starts, which will normally will be complete after a maximum of 5 days. Subsequent treatment at 3-monthly intervals with a special post-peeling cream and consistent protection against sunlight are essential for treatment success. Normally one treatment will be sufficient.
We treat patients with Depi-Fast-Peel™.
Sometimes it might be necessary to extent the treatment concept to include other tools, for instance Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), laser, other chemical peelings or dermabrasion. This condition also requires prescription of dermatological formulas with bleaching substances. Here too, Dr Zenker’s extensive specialist knowledge qualifies her to offer treatment options conforming to the latest international state of knowledge.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Moles or liver spots are benign proliferations of pigmenting skin cells. They may be there from birth or they can develop over the course of time.
Sometimes these moles are considered a cosmetic irritation. In this case we pay the greatest attention to specialist dermatological diagnostics. Before treating a pigment mole, it has to be properly diagnosed by a dermatologist. Generally this is done in the course of the skin cancer prevention checks, normally annually, by means of computer-supported digital reflected light video microscopy (photofinder). This examination is important for early detection and treatment of changes, such as the preliminary stages of skin cancer, since pigment spots and moles can in principle turn into black mole cancer, or melanoma.
Removal of unsightly pigment moles is only recommended and performed if there are no medical concerns. This can be done by many different methods for treating the surface of the skin. We attach great importance to histological examination of the removed skin . If a pigment mole has to be removed for medical reasons - either as a precautionary measure or for therapy of a malignancy, we perform all outpatient dermatosurgical interventions as well as full patient care in line with the guidelines of the German Association of Dermatological Oncology (ADO).
Our primary focus is provision of individual advice on sun protection appropriate to each patient’s skin type.
Skin cancer prevention is one of Dr Zenker’s chief specialisms and is part of our daily work. Preventing skin cancer and keeping skin healthy are very important to Dr. Zenker.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Nail fungus is an infection of the nail plate which can be very persistent and difficult to treat. It is by no means a purely cosmetic problem, but is rather a disease of the nail itself.
First the infection should be proven. Then a consistent treatment regimen has to be carried out, usually over several months, as this infection is very hard to get rid of and may even spread to previously healthy nails. The affected nails have to be treated both externally (with local therapies and regular medical pedicures) and sometimes also internally (with a drug therapy).
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Scars generally require very careful treatment by qualified dermatologists only. The first step here must be dermatological diagnostics.
Depending on the diagnosis, Dr. Zenker will treat her patients individually with methods like dermabrasion, injection e.g. of solutions containing cortisone, or surgical removal with the Airgent2™.
Presently, the Airgent™ procedure is the only proven method that specifically initiates the formation of collagen and thus tissue repair. In this procedure, hyaluronic acid is introduced into the skin layers under high pressure and very precisely without a needle, where it then mechanically initiates what is known as a ‘micro trauma’ which activates cell regeneration.
The procedure is generally painless and involves minimal time loss. Normally, one block of 2-3 sessions will be necessary.
We use the Airgent2™.
Under certain circumstances, it might be necessary to repigment scars with Permanent Makeup™
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Psoriasis is a non-contagious skin disease which generally manifests itself in heavily scaling skin lesions (often on the knees, elbows and scalp) as well as nail changes. Since this is a systemic disease, therapy may require cross-disciplinary collaboration.
We offer all diagnostics as well as the most important outpatient treatment methods and we have a very good network of specialists in other medical disciplines to enable effective management of even the most complex issues.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
This is a skin disease from the acne family which manifests itself in inflammatory bumps and pustules, mainly on the face. Additional symptoms may be flushing, broken veins, inflammation and enlarged pores.
Since this disease has so many different forms, a strategy with many individual components is required to manage it in the long-term. Therapy ranges from intensive local measures, such as medical deep pore cleansing and local therapies with prescription substances, internal drug treatment to medical peelings and application of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL; we use the Leo HarmonyXL™). Intensive sun protection is essential.
The management of rosacea is one of Dr. Zenker particular specialisms because she worked in this specific field for a long time with one of the pioneering dermatologists at the University of Munich.

GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Dry skin lacks fat and/or moisture and is a frequent problem, not only in winter. There are many different causes, such as inadequate sebaceous gland function or insufficient water-binding capacity.
Here too, our patients receive individual and extensive skin testing at each session, as well as skin care advice. Suitable cleansing and care products can make a decisive contribution to restoring skin elasticity and smoothness.
Sometimes it is very important to distinguish simple dry skin from a real skin disease, for instance neurodermatitis. Here, the experienced eye and advice of a qualified dermatologist is essential.
Individual skin care advice is very important to Dr. Zenker. Her regular lectures in this field make Dr. Sabine Zenker particularly well qualified to pass on the latest developments to her patients.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Excess sweating in the armpits, on hands or feet is a very disagreeable issue for all concerned. The body produces sweat excessively and uncontrollably, regardless of temperature, time of day or season.
Diligent diagnostics, where required also across medical disciplines, are extremely important to recognise underlying diseases. If the condition is isolated, focal sweating, for instance in the armpits, local medical therapies can be prescribed initially for sweat regulation. Treatment with botulinumtoxin A is highly effective, involving injection of an extremely diluted solution into the skin. It effectively inhibits sweat production for approx. 6 months. Treatment can be repeated periodically.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Warts are common, benign skin growths caused by a viral infection which occur in very different forms and manifest themselves in a rough and scaly surface. There are a wide variety of virus types, mainly human papilloma viruses (HPV), which cause warts on skin and mucous membranes.
Verrucas, for instance, are a very common form affecting the soles of feet which can be very troublesome and sometimes extremely painful. Verrucas are also contagious, which makes effective treatment all the more important!
We use a special therapy approach which is a combination of local treatments to dissolve and remove calluses. Then the affected areas are injected with medications to inhibit viral reproduction.
We also offer specialist dermatological diagnosis and treatment of all other skin diseases involving warts.
GENERAL DERMATOLOGY
Vitiligo manifests itself in pale, speckled pigment irregularities which frequently affect areas of the body exposed to light, such as face and hands.
Internal systemic conditions are rarely involved in this context.
The therapy approaches offered by Dr. Zenker include, besides the classic local treatment with therapeutic creams, a highly effective special treatment with therapeutic UV-B-radiation.
Her lectures at international academic congresses make Dr. Zenker ideally qualified to bring the latest promising therapy methods to her practice.
AESTHETIC DERMATOLOGY
Finding effective treatment methods for this weakness of the connective tissues, which is so difficult to treat, is only possible with extensive dermatological and advanced technological expertise.
Cellulite requires a range of different strategies, therefore the advice and treatment we provide for you will be comprehensive, honest, and always in line with the latest international technological developments. In these cases we use the Rioblush CO2 RioJuvenation System™ and the Venus Freeze™.
AESTHETIC DERMATOLOGY
Wrinkles can be treated with very different methods. We rely on innovative and scientifically-tested products, safe methods, and above all natural aesthetics: nobody should be able to see that you have been treated, and certainly not what with! Dr. Zenker, who has also established a platform for scientific studies and international specialist training, carries out all kinds of wrinkle treatments in the practice on a daily basis. Greatest emphasis here is on individual work with the most advanced injection techniques.
FILLER APPLICATION
Fillers replace volume which has been reduced by aging processes. Subcutaneous injection of fillers is one of the most frequent and most effective treatment methods for wrinkles. Fillers can be used to smooth out individual lines. This treatment method has seen enormous progress recently.
Today, we can use injections for the three-dimensional reconstruction of facial structures, and for lifting contours. Often we can postpone surgery, such as facelifts, for a long time, or even render them altogether unnecessary.
Dr. Zenker uses only safe, biodegradable and bio-stimulative filler materials in her treatments, such as hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite or the body’s own Platelet Rich Plasma PRP.
RELAXATION
Facial lines, for instance the so-called frown line between the eyebrows, can develop through hyperactivity of the facial muscles. This can be improved by specific relaxation of the facial muscles through injection of the drug botulinumtoxin.
Here too, Dr. Zenker uses only globally approved and scientifically tested botulinumtoxins in her treatments.
RESTORING ELASTICITY
Often it is not enough to fill facial lines or to relax the hyperactive muscles causing them, sometimes the skin’s general elasticity has to be restored.
For this, therapy concepts can be combined from various processes: medical peelings (TCA-Peeling™, Herbal-Peel™, Green-Peel™), skin tightening with radio frequencies and electromagnetic impulses (Venus Freeze™) or infrared (Harmony XL™), Kinetic-HA (Airgent2™), mesotherapy with Platelet Rich Plasma PRP (Selphyl™) and many others. Here again, a specific individualised skin care regimen is essential. If required, we will prescribe therapeutic creams which are prepared specifically for each patient. Another important apect is administration of specific dietary supplements adapted to skin, hair and nails.
AESTHETIC DERMATOLOGY
The reduction of small pads of subcutaneous fat should be simple, practically painless and effective without surgery like liposuction. In treatments for the reduction of subcutaneous fat pads, apparative, micro-invasive methods are currently progressing rapidly.
We think that different methods can be applied depending on initial findings and we will gladly offer you comprehensive advice and treatment in accordance with the latest technology.
Here we use the Rioblush CO2 RioJuvenation System and Venus Freeze™. We also offer procedures such as injection lipolysis, known as fat burner injections.
Her lectures at international academic congresses make Dr. Zenker ideally qualified to bring the latest promising therapy methods to her practice and to ensure that her advice to patients is always in line with the latest technology.
AESTHETIC DERMATOLOGY
These days, unsightly and telltale age spots on the face, backs of the hands and bust area can be treated specifically and effectively with the latest technologies, such as Intense Pulsed Light, IPL. IPL is a very effective treatment method which is used in our practice for the removal of spots, treatment of broken veins, redness and enlarged pores, etc.
This technique applies bundled laser beams of different wavelengths directly to the accumulation of brown pigment, or melanin, in the spots. The melanin so treated is then gradually broken down and dissipated by the body’s own metabolism. Over time, the spots will flake off and disappear. The surrounding skin remains unaffected.
Generally, 2-3 sessions are required at intervals of 2-3 weeks, but sometimes one session will be sufficient!
We treat with Harmony XL™.
If this method is not suitable for treatment of your pigment disorder, we can select from a variety of other methods, for instance DepiFastPeel, TCA-Peels, laser treatment, dermabrasion and prescription of dermatological medicine.
AESTHETIC DERMATOLOGY

DULL, PALLID SKIN WITHOUT YOUTHFUL GLOW
Dull, pallid skin without youthful glow, enlarged pores, irregular colouring and blemishes are typical complaints of patients seeking advice in our practice.
Dermatological treatment of these complex changes can range from skin care advice with prescription of individual formulas and medication as required, periodic professional face cleansing, medical peelings, mesotherapy with Platelet Rich Plasma PRP™:
PRP therapy is a treatment using extracts from the patient’s own blood which stimulate skin structures. Growth factors and other rejuvenating agents from the blood of the patient are isolated, concentrated, and then immediately injected into the areas to be treated by way of mesotherapy (very superficial injections into the skin with the thinnest of needles).
This method rejuvenates the skin and provides a natural glow that is hard to achieve with any other therapy.
Dr. Zenker has worked for many years on the clinical application and international research and qualification in this method, and she was one of the first physicians to use this technique in Germany.
Our practice offers a wide range of other effective methods for skin rejuvenation, including IPL treatments for elimination of colour discrepancies (Harmony XL™), skin tightening with Venus Freeze™, rehydration and skin remodelling with the Airgent2™, and collagen stimulation with carboxy therapy (Rioblush-CDT™)

The slackening of certain areas of skin, such as the jowls or chin, the upper arms or belly, has been very difficult to treat in the past, since non-invasive procedures were not sufficiently effective. This has changed since the availability of a technology which combines radio frequency with the effects of electromagnetic waves the Venus Freeze™: In addition there is also the option of treatment with infrared light using the Harmony XL.
AESTHETIC DERMATOLOGY
Stretch marks are one of the skin changes which it is most difficult to treat. In order to “repair” the “torn” connective tissue, the skin has to be specifically stimulated to produce new, intact collagen. Most previous methods have either been ineffective or had major side effects. Therefore, Dr. Zenker uses only special methodologies which she is actively working on to further their scientific development.
Here, we use the Airgent2™ procedure and the Rioblush CO2 RioJuvenation System™.
